OUR PASTOR OF ADMINISTRATIVE OPERATIONS
Reverend Doctor Jonathan Calvin Smith preached his first sermon at Mount Moriah on August 22, 1999, upon accepting his call to preach the Gospel under the direction of his maternal grandfather and father in the ministry, Dr. Robert D. Reed. While attending Stephen F. Austin State University, Dr. Smith provided leadership in children/youth ministries; and taught the Adult Sunday School class and Wednesday Night Bible Study at the Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church of Nacogdoches, Texas. The Lord has blessed Dr. Smith to preach in several revivals, national conferences/workshops, and a host of other venues.
Upon graduation from SFASU, Dr. Smith began working for Dallas ISD at the middle and elementary schools of his youth. Dr. Smith holds a Masters in Educational Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Doctorate in Global Leadership from Lamar University. Additional post-graduate studies include matriculation at Dallas Theological Seminary, Dallas Baptist University, Universidad Internacional – Cuernavaca, Mexico, Harvard Graduate School of Education – National Institute for Urban School Leaders, and Harvard Kennedy School - Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership. He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry on July 23, 2006 at Mount Moriah. He served as a Principal for Dallas ISD for fourteen years. Under his leadership, schools were recognized on the local, state and national level. Currently, he serves in executive leadership in the Dallas ISD and an education nonprofit based in New York.
He is also very committed to his faith and family. Dr. Smith is actively engaged as the Pastor of Administrative Operations overseeing administration, the construction project, and media ministries at the Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas, under the leadership of his father and Senior Pastor, Dr. Johnny Calvin Smith. Dr. Smith is married to his high school sweetheart, Christina. Mrs. Smith is the founder of the Joshua Caleb Project, a ministry undertaking to increase awareness and fund research for women’s health. Dr. and Mrs. Smith have three boys Josiah, Jeremiah, and Jedidiah.
